Assoutility

The client

Assoutility is the energy company of Assolombarda, the largest territorial association of the entire entrepreneurial system in Italy (associating over 6.200 firms in the Milan area).
Assoutility S.r.l. is a power Wholesaler, buying and selling around 3.000.000.000 kWh of electricity a year for more than 1.000 customers, and around 100.000.000 Sm3 of natural gas.

The business need

Assoutility, like all wholesalers that do not have own power generation, needed to maximize the efficiency of its energy trading processes and keep an eye on risk indicators in order to ensure marginality of operations.
The need was to replace Office Automation tools that supported the company in its

  • OTC operations towards other wholesalers
  • operations on institutional platforms (IPEX, PCE, PDE, IDEX, MTE)

Moreover, given the increase in Assoutility client base and traded volumes, Energeya was required to set up a risk management solution in order to allow the client to keep risk indicators (like VaR, PaR) under control.

The Solution

Energeya solutions automate the whole Energy Management Processes (Production, Sales, Trading, Risk & Portfolio Management, Forecasting) and is supporting Assoutility in providing the Portfolio and Risk Management service to their Consortium members
Energeya deployed multiple modules of the XDM Suite for Assoutility, in order to allow the client to

  • integrately manage its OTC operations (bilaterals and CFDs) towards other wholesalers
  • verticalize the processes of commercial transactions, physical scheduling on PCE and bidding on IPEX from a single application interface
  • support the settlement process to feed active invoicing to wholesalers and institutional counterparties, and allow the process of passive invoices check
  • tightly control operations through a set of specific reports

The risk management solution made available to Assoutility was automated in order to povide scheduled information on the set of risk indicators required by the client both on short term operations and medium term forecasts.
